Hello everyone! please be kind...don't venture onto the forums much anymore, but needed some advice. Anyone watch Biggest Loser last night???
When they were looking in Biingo's frig and asked what kind of foods they used to find in there before they became more healthy?? And the mom answered "two percent milk and cheese sticks"? WHAT??? are these no nos???
Don't mean to sound ignorant, but there is both in my frig. (the cheese sticks are low fat)
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!!

It depends on if you believe dairy is terrible for you and that along with grains and legumes are the root cause of all diseases of civilization

I know you probably said something helpful, but now all I can think about is your profile pic. Damn man! Good job!

Did they mean that was all that was in the refrigerator, so they ate out a lot? What do you mean by cheese sticks, processed cheese or a cheese flavoured product or traditional cheese with few ingredients? Simply being low fat doesn't make something healthy.

Please change your profile pic before you offer advice so people can focus.

OP- I didn't watch the show, but she probably meant that they've now switched from 2% to skim milk and have cut out cheese. I don't think 2% milk and low fat cheese sticks are bad.

Firefox, don't know. That was all that was mentioned. Threw out the wrapper for the cheesesticks, but need to investigate. You have a good point.

I watched that BL episode this morning. I think maybe they are saying that the Almond Breeze is a better choice than 2% Milk. It may or may not be but it really all depends on what works for you.

I thought they said cheesecake. lol
  • I would say it depends on how much you eat and what other foods are being consumed. If those are a treat, I'd say no harm done. That was probably one of those scenes where something helpful or more explanatory was edited out.

Now that I re-read the post above me, I also thought they said cheesecake at first. Maybe they did. My husband and daughter were being loud while I was trying to watch. :grumble:

    Yeah, I heard cheesecake, too.

Our pediatrician suggested moving from whole milk to 2% once the kids turned 2 (whole milk is good for under 2 as they need more fats then). But I would expect with a 13 year old who is already overweight, moving to skim milk or another alternative would be recommended.

Try and stick to foods with very few ingredients - if possible just 1/2. Lots of water - do not even buy sodas. Weetabix and porridge rather than sweet cereals.
