Just getting into this whole thing!

Ok, so I have a few questions, and I hope someone can help without judging :)
I am not here to lose tons of weight, but I am here to get healthier and in better shape. I have recently started going to the gym 5-6 times a week and I am trying to transition my family into more healthy eating. (kind of hard with a 4 and 5 year old who both have to go inbetween houses)
One question I do have is how many times a week should I be doing cardio??
Anyone currently on a paleo or clean eating diet? Any good kid frienly recipes or books I could buy?
