Ok so Ill try to be brief. I started to diet at 305lbs. I got down to 220lbs through diet changes alone and was happy. I fell off the diet wagon and ended up gaining about 20lbs back. I hit the diet again and have lost 8 of that 20. I then started to go to the gym 3 days a week for around an hour of strength training. The other 4 days per week I do a 45-60min hike/walk. I lost only 1lb in a week and figured it would be higher considering all the new activity and same diet. Last week i started adding some whey protein to my diet at around 60g per day. I have lost no weight at all this week. I have no idea whats going on. I am burning thousands of extra calories, being strickt on diet and losing nothing. Very frustrating.

You started doing some new exercise - and that is literally tearing your muscle fibers. So, your muscles are retaining fluid to repair themselves. Drink lots of water, take a rest day and weigh again.0

I can't see your food diary, but I can tell you that I try to consume 30 grams of fiber per day. When i do the weight comes off fairly steadily. It I stick to my calorie limits and exercise, but consume less fiber the weight seems to come off at a snail's pace. I don't know if other's have the same experience, but for me it makes a tremendous difference when I eat more fiber rich foods.0

Sean - what is your daily calorie count? Has it changed since you became a certified gym rat? LOL. To go from couch potatoe to gym rat in one fell swoop along with a large calorie deficit puts a tremendous stress on your body. Your body responds to the stress to protect you. One of those things is the hormone cortisol. It does a wonderful job to keep you alive in the wildneress but a lousy job on the journey to be an ex-fatty.
I found myself in a similar place, lost a lot of weight and then began to work out early in the morning. Lack of sleep and doing animal work-outs kept me on a plateau for months in spite of a 1500 calorie deficit per day. ( I was over 300 lbs so I was in no danger of starving myself).
Some thoughts to consider on your wilderness adventure. BTW, you may consider opening your journal or putting up more stats in your question.0 -
Ill figure out how to open it now. Daily goal is 1490 to lose 2lbs per week. I stay under that every day so should be more.0
