Sleep vs exercise

I have recently started working in the evening to add to my already full time job. I used to workout on the evenings that I work and I have now cut down to exercising 2-3 times per week. What is healthier getting in 30 minutes of exercise before bed or getting about an hour and a half less sleep? I am always hyped when I'm done working out. I usually get about 5-6 hours sleep on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings when I tend bar....

Any chance you can exercise at lunch? Exercise is important, but if the evening job is temporary I'd be more inclined to get sleep and be sure to bring your eating in line with your day to day activity. MFP works that way - if you stick to your goal you'll still lose weight. Doing 30 minutes of exercise 2-3 times a week is still a great idea, but not if you're going to burn out over it. Can you work your exercise in to your job? I used to run to work for example... or you could carpool to work and walk home? Or you could walk/run at lunch or something? Maybe it doesn't have to be right before bed. How about between shifts?

More sleep controls your hormone levels that leads to feeling hungry. And, less sleep can make your stress hormones (cortisol) increase, depending on your situation. I'd vote for more sleep with brief, brisk walks during the day.

Can you work out in the mornings? It winds me up so I'm at the gym before the sun comes up, gives me plenty of energy for the day!

absolutely the sleep for the above mentioned reasons! Though both are very important for our bodies/ health but to lack too much sleep is like a house of cards tumbling down!

A.M workout if at all possible (in your situation)... what a burst of energy that gives!!

    :drinker: Cheers!

Edited for lack of o's in the to's. :blushing:
