what consitutes a short girl?

I always read on the forums how women eat 800, 900, 1,000 calories because they are "short". So what height is considered to be short for a woman?

We did a poll of 15 women in an office and 13 of them were between 5 feet and 5'5". One was 5'7 and one was 5'9".

So wouldn't 5 feet to 5'5" be average? With under 5 feet being short and 5'7 and up tall?

If 5 feet to say 5'4" is short, then what is average and what is tall?

I believe the national average for women is 5'3. I'm 4'10"-4'11" so I definitely consider myself short! Lol! MFP has maintained for my height weight as 1380. My ticker is set to 1200 but I eat from 1500-2100 regularly bc I love working out so I have plenty of calories to burn ;).

Edit - maintenance not maintained. Darn auto correct!

I don't know maybe 5'3 and under? I'm 5'1 and I feel short so I guess it depends on the person and how they feel really

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the average U.S. woman is 5' 3.7 (162 centimeters) tall and weighs 152 pounds (69 kilograms). This corresponds to a Body Mass Index of 26.3 kilograms/meters².

so, anybody under 5'3.7" would be considered short.

I'm 5"1", I know I'm short because usually, my feet don't touch the ground when I sit in a chair...I feel like a little kid.
