NYC Mud Run

Options
I've found my new motivation - I want to be able to do the Mud Run in October. http://www.downanddirtymudrun.com/ny.cfm Anyone else thinking of trying it? I figure I can try their training program once I've finished the C25K. The test of my fitness is whether or not I can keep up with my best friend, who has always been really athletic.

I did a Mud Run years ago and it was awesome!!! It was in Roanoke, VA and sponsored by the USMC. It was very challenging. We had to run straight up a mountain and then back down. Then, we had to get into the cold water of the Roanoke River and cross it by foot to the other side. We dived into mud pits to crawl on our bellies under rows of rope, climbed up and over walls, and jogging through tires. At the end the whole crowd of people takes one big shower together and everyone is so excited to have completed it. I've thought about doing it again one day when I'm in better shape. I'm not sure if all Mud Run's are the same but if it's anything like what I did, you will love it and be so proud of yourself!

It sounds like great fun! And it also gives me something concrete to work towards, which I know is a big motivator for me. It would be awesome if there could also be an MFP meetup!

Wow, those all look awesome. You are going to have a great time! (The Warrior Dash looks especially fun.) And as far as the Mud Run is concerned - the fee covers the cost of the race, and the rest of the money goes to a really worthwhile charity, so you might be able to convince your wife on that one.
