How important is this???? I LOVE Cheerios, I eat them dry and I would prefer to have a fruit serving of fresh raisins in it, yeah it's only 1/4 cup. But I will eat it any way I can get it. So tonight when I looked at my calories and carbs to determine my bedtime snack I saw that I had enough left I could actually have a bowl, 2 cups, rather than just the regular serving of 1 cup. I saw on the glycemic index that Cheerios is one of the higher cereals. So am I doing myself more harm than good?

If you are diabetic or have Insulin Resistance, it's important.

If you have a disease free metabolism, it's not important at all.

If you are talking about regular Cheerios (not honey nut Cheerios or some other sugar coated cheerios), I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you like them, eat them. You could do a lot worse. Your post is titled "glycemic index" so I'm not sure if you're diabetic but if so, keep an eye on your b/s readings as any type of cereal like that will convert to sugar quickly, Regular Cheerios are not too bad.

High GI foods will spike your blood sugar and can make you feel hungrier sooner.

Thanks all. I am prediabetic and check my blood sugar every Wednesday morning so I guess I will see how my 2 cups of Cheerios did

Oh, I also saw that pineapple is in the hing level. That is depressing. Pineapple is my new chocolate. I don't eat more than I should but I do eat a little 1/2 cup of pineappple tidbits in natural juice every evening with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese.
