Fitbit Zip Question!

Hey,

Anyone using the fitbit zip that can answer some of my questions? I just got mine in the mail today & I have been wearing it all day.

I apparently took over 5000 steps today, burned 1586 cals (from about 8am-8pm) and it says I should eat 1442 calories. I have it set with a 500 calorie deficit.

Okay, so is the burn just 1586 for my TDEE for the hours I've been wearing it and then the rest will add up with calories burnt sleeping? Just not understanding how this is all adding up, if anyone could explain in the simplest terms that would be lovely. :)

Also, before I got my zip I had calculated my tdee at lightly active - 20% = ~1600cals. So I guess I am sedentary then?!

Help, I don't get it!

usually in the morning when you wakeup it already has estimated your calories burned from sleeping. be sure to sync every night to get an as close to accurate as possible reading.

and are you syncing it to MFP ? it will add back your calories and show you what the Fitbit burn is to eat back. I normally calculate all of my workouts to burn 1 calorie so that when I sync my fitbit it is not conflicting with what MFP says I burned and giving me too many calories back
  • I didn't know I could sync it with mfp! Thanks!
