GIRLS I need help with a private situation HELP

i currently have the implant to avoid getting pregnant, i never have periods, i've had a period probably about 5 times in the last 3ish years. i'm due to have this taken out in 2014.

i've heard some women being concerned about them not having a normal monthly cycle but i enjoy not having a period. will this affect me when i am ready to conceive and have a baby? is there a chance i wont be able to?

please help, i am worried. :ohwell:

    Won't hurt it at all

The only negative thing I would say about the implant is that it can really affect your skin, it gave me horrible acne which went away when I changed contraception.

I've never, ever heard of implants affecting the ability to get pregnant. At most I've heard of spotting after it's taken out, and being a little sore but unless something goes extremely, horrifically 1 out of 10,000 wrong I'd say you should be fine.

    Shouldn't affect it.

I have no personal experience with it but a girl I went to school with had the implant a few years back, never had periods throughout it. She had a baby about a year ago though.
  • Wonderful, thank you all for your messages, i was worried. :-)

I've had my implant for over two years now and it has not really affected my skin, i guess it varies with most people :-) i thought it stopped me from loosing weight but i've lost weight whilst being on it so all in all, it's been fab for me. I want another one when i get this one taken out in 2014.

Once the implant is removed you should go straight back into a normal cycle, it may take one or two periods for your body to get back into its natural cycle but that won't affect your fertility in the future.

They told me within a month of removal you can become pregnant.

I have the implant, it has affected my periods, they are pretty non exsistant, this is the second time I have had it in, it won't affect your chances of having kids, I took mine out to try for my little girl and got pregnant 3 months after,
Don't worry about it, I would say it's the best contraception I have used
