Question for men who work out with weights

Most of what I have seen tend to be doing weird *kitten* programs of their own creation. One in particular struck me as odd because he was deadlifting and squatting 4x per week, and would add in a bit of the one push/one pull with each of those. It was a bit strange imo, but I can't argue with the guy's results.
I read about the same kind of protocols in really advanced soviet lifters... but their CNS is generally so fried they are basically useless in all other aspects of life... not usually applicable to the general population.0 -
I am not exactly close friends with the guy, so I don't know what he does other than lifting. For all I know, he could be a homeless crackhead (unlikely given the amount of food it must take to feed that behemoth) or the owner of a Fortune 500 company. Either way, all I can judge on is what I've seen him pick up off of the ground, and how often I have seen him train, and it's impressive to say the least.
Anyway, my only point is that people seem to be way to quick to tell someone what their own body can and cannot do. Something tells me if that guy came here, unless he rolled in with pictures, videos, a copy of his birth certificate, driver's license, and Social Security card, no one would take his training advice seriously, just because most people are too damned scared of the overtraining monster to give his advice a shot.0 -

Sundays and thursdays are my full body strength workouts. Tuesdays I do a more circuit based training workout to deplete glycogen stores. To me it's more like cardio than anything else. Saturdays I walk about 6 miles. The other 2 days I'm comatose. I might walk, but probably not.
I find that my body has never done well with resistance training every other day. Every 3 days seems to be perfect for me.
Oh yeah... they last about 2 hours for each workout.0 -

I doubt very much their CNS is fried. Most of used word by people who train on the planet.0 -
I lift 3 days per week. I just started doing Starting Strength, and have seen some pretty good gains, even though I'm still at a caloric deficit. Next week I'll be upping my calories, so I will see if that helps with my strength gains, even more. My workouts usually take a little over an hour with my warm up cardio, and warm up sets. I also do 2 minute rest sets. I can't seem to complete my sets with less rest than that.0
