Water Weight Insight Plz

My weight sometimes fluctuates a lot. Four days ago I weighted 239.9 and than I weighted myself today and I weighted 233.5. That's a huge difference. I do normally weight myself once a week on sunday (but this week I did it on Sat instead), but I thought my 239.9 was high, so I weighted myself again today
People tell me it's water weight, so how do I know which weight is right? I take measurements once a month, and I use clothing to see where I am at. I know I have lost weight because of clothing. At what point can I look at the scale and say "look i've lost 2 pounds so far"
Any thoughts would be great!

personally i ususally weigh myself every day, so i see a lot of fluctuation. if i weigh in at about the same weight 2-3 days in a row, i accept that as an accurate weight. make sure you always weigh yourself at the same time every day. i like to weigh myself in the morning, after going to the bathroom, without clothes, before eating or drinking anything.0

I used to be a daily weigher. I would see up to a 3 lb difference some days. It all depends on how much water you drink and how much sodium you consume. If I ate more salt and didn't drink as much water, I'd be heavier than if I'd limited my salt and drank more water.
I still weigh every few days, but I only log the weight on Wednesdays.
The scale can be a good thing or a bad thing. Take it with a grain of salt, and use measurements and how your clothes fit as basis for how you're doing. Anything can change what the scale says, even a low battery. But your tape measure will tell you more than a scale will.0
