Hello! I have been thinking about getting an athletic watch to help me count my calories and keep me thinking about my goals. I have been looking at some on line, but I can't find one that seems to stand out. Which ones are good and are they really worth the money?

Before my injuries, I was using the Polar FT60. I LOVE it and would highly recommend. I especially liked how at the end of the week, I would get a trophy from the watch if I met my goals. Sometimes, it's the little things...

I love the Garmin FR70! I can use it indoors in the gym, or outside on the trail.
  • Thanks! I was looking at the Mio Active Connect. I like how it connects to MyFitnessPal, but I'll look into the other watches that you talked about.

I have a Garmin FR410, and I love it. It connects to the footpod and hrm, and I can load specific workouts on it. It's great both indoors and outdoors. Plus it is a multi-sport watch, biking and running. With the Garmins you can link it to an Endomondo account which auto imports into MFP.

Do you want it for all day burn or just for cardio e exercise?

    bumping this for later.
  • I think that I would like to have it for all day burn, which is why I care a lot what it looks like. I am trying to figure out how many calories I burn in a day. I have a desk job and I don't exercise as much as I should, so most of my weight loss will be from eating less. Having a base line and motivation constantly with me will help me to get off my butt and pay more attention to my calorie burn.

In which case a HRM is only for e excise. You could also get a Fitbit for all day or a Bodymediafit. Do a search and you'll find loads of info on these. There's also the new Amiigo.
