how do you log les mills excercises?

I usually take classes like body combat, body flow, body pump or zumba but I am not able to log these exercises on mfp , dont have hrm to track as well.. what do you guys do? I tried to enter body combat as martial arts, and body pump as strength training and body flow as yoga..even tgough they are mix of pilates, yoga and dont know what else.....dont know how close it is from actual results.

  • You have the option to enter your own exercises, just enter it yourself. Take the average calorie burn that they have posted around the gyms where Les Mills is offered and put it into the system...that's what I've done
  • I would strongly suggest you get yourself a Polar, I am also a big Les Mills class junkie. I find it's the most accurate way.

Agreed. "Average calories burned" are wildly inaccurate and usually overestimate.

I log as my own exercise. The Les Mills website lists calorie burn for some of they're classes but not all. I estimated until I got an hrm so now I can log what I'm actually burning. I burn 350 calories in body pump and I lift heavy. Body attack I burn 520 calories and body combat I burn 350 calories. I'm 5,3" and weight 130 lbs. your calorie burn will be different depending on how much effort you put in and your age, height , weight ect.. Pilates and yoga I only burn around 150 calories.

Thanks a lot for your response, I so desperately want a hrm, but have to wait for some time.

If it's going to be a long time before you're able to buy an HRM, why not find out your TDEE and -20%?
