Moving from Endurance to Strength Training

I am a former endurance athlete and after an injury a couple of years ago, I am now starting strength training. I’m struggling to figure out my body’s feedback during and after workouts. During circuit training, I’ll work the muscles to the point of failure only to feel 5 minutes later like I could have done more. I do a heavy legs session but my legs still have enough in them for 30-40 minutes on an elliptical or a treadmill at a pretty good pace. I don’t hold anything back during my workouts but, after they are over, I feel like I have more in me. Shouldn’t I have the same sense of muscle fatigue I got from a tempo run after?
Am I doing something wrong? Is my body telling me something that I am missing? Are there cues from my body that I should be looking for?

Endurance and strength work your heart and muscles differently.
I would think you need to have different goals and expectations for each .0 -
As a beginning lifter, you shouldn't be worried about anything except getting stronger. Get on a proven beginner's routine like starting strength or stronglifts 5x5 and follow the progressions.0
