I have low thyroid but not low enough that I need to be on medicine. My levels have gone down a little the last few years. Anyone else struggle with losing weight with this? I have lost 90 lbs but it has taken me almost 4 yrs and I still have about 30 more I want to lose. I am 36 have gone thru several plateaus and know the older you get the harder it is. I know I also have a bad metabolism from being fat and thin over the last 20 years. This past year has been the hardest it’s ever been to lose. I’ve changed my exercise routine (doing 30ds now) I eat pretty clean with some cheating weekends and I can still barely lose even .25 a week if even that. On the weekend I do cheat (not even being really horribly bad) I’ll gain 3-6 lbs on Sunday when I weigh in. I know it’s mostly water but that takes me the entire week to lose what I gained Friday and Saturday. Anyone else go thru something like this? I just feel like it’s 10 times harder than it has ever been! I asked my dr and he really has no explanations other than a slow metabolism from yo yoing

    I'm in this boat.

I get my thyroid hormone levels tested every year for work. Steady decline. I'm at the very low end of 'normal' for hormone levels. Even had a couple of reading just under the lab 'normal' range.

My understanding is that those levels are off. Meaning if you're at the low end of 'normal' on the lab normal range, you're probably already too low.

My next physical I'm going to bring this up with my GP, and see about getting an appointment with an endocrinologist for a little more rigorous testing/reading of results.

I'm in the same boat as what you've described.....6 weeks and I'm up and down the same two pounds.
  • Yes up down the same 4 lbs for me!! It's crazy!! I wish there was a way to get get my thyroid in better condition without meds. Even though I'm not to that point yet. I'm sure my metabolism is shot too from years of up and down pounds!

I have been on meds for years but as I got older I could tell it wasn't good enough. I went to the health food store and the lady there told me that lots of her customers take a thyroid complex supplement with their meds. I have been doing that and it helps. Because I test in the normal range on meds I would think this would work for you too. Talk to someone who really knows supplements
