Spike days?

I am curious what they are. I have heard a lot of people talking about then and dont understand how they would help me. I just started a program where I do a mile jog and then do 20 minutes of hard core strength training. I plan on upping the strength training in about two weeks. I take Sundays off as a rest day. Would I benefit from a spike day on Sundays when I weigh in Mondays? I want to do whatever it takes to lose weight and not hit a plateau.

    There are quite a few other posts about spiking. Basically it's upping calories for a small time. A lot of people say it helps with plateaus. It's about shaking up metabolism. If you do a search you should be able to find a lot of information.
