I am clinically diagnosed with hypothyroidism and everyday, although I take a pill for it and am ALWAYS under my caloric goal and all else...I still cannot loose weight. Please help. I am extremely critical of what I am eating and even when I try to eat poorly I am still within the given limits. If I am over it is usually in the protein category. I just need to understand how to loose weight again, it never was this hard before...

I'm not a doctor, but two things came to mind - (1) have you had the blood-work to make sure your dosage is ok? Thyroid medication can be tricky to get right. How much you need seems to change regularly, especially in the beginning. Every doctor seems to have a different idea of the "best" time to take the medicine. I got better results from taking mine at night than in the morning. Secondly, do you exercise regularly? Even something like walking? If not, adding some would let you eat more calories (which you body might actually want) while still staying around the net calories you are used to.

I also have hypothyroidism. Like the person above me said, you should get some lab work done. I was on the worng dosage and gained weight really quick. Also, check if you are on the generic. For some reason the generic pill wasn't working for me. I gained over 50 pounds in 2 years while on the generic.

I am hypothyroid also. Making sure your on the correct dosage is critical! Your levels can fluctuate between blood work too. I was able to lose weight by eating 6 meals a day instead of three (keeping my blood sugars balanced)
