Sickness Setback

Finally back on the diet after an extended break (Xmas and then a virus/throat infection) and have regained 7lb :(

When I'm ill it's like I can hear my mum's voice in the back of my head saying "you need to keep eating" and all I craved was JUNK. Any tips on not letting sickness set me back again? I feel as though I've lost a month and I have a lot of weight to lose this year...

  • Do NOT beat yourself up because you went off your healthy food choices during an illness..the one thing you can do is set up a area in your pantry or cupboard for illness days (i am a diabetic and i get kidney stones so that is what my illness days area is for ) anyway have some healthy low salt soups and broths in your pantry,,some sugar free jello unless your vegan some freeze dried or dried sulfur free fruit or canned fruit some old london melba crackers ..when you can not keep anything down..also a few cans of ginger ale to keep the green at the gills feeling away some lemon drops for dry mouth.. broth toast rice pudding..ect then when you feel you can eat without feeling seasick from the virus try a slice of fresh apple some celery or something spicy my hubby grew up in Az so he eats spicy hot mexican food when he has the flu akkkkk but it works for him..
you will prob drop a lot of the weight you gained when your body recovers and i forgot to add do you have vit c or b12 or adult vits in your pantry too they all help

Ooh - I like the idea of an emergency section in the cupboard!

As I'm in the UK I can't get a lot of the items you mention, but I can definitely stock up on soups and broths. Thanks!
