People that lost weight and maintained

How much have you lost?
How long have you been maintaining for?
Do you find it harder to maintain or to lose weight?
What are some "secrets" to maintaining?

For me, I lost 40 pounds. I have been maintaining for about a year and a half. (160 to 120)

I track all of my calories 90% of the time.
I try to limit myself to eating out once to twice a week.
Before going to restaurants, I like to look at the menu and nutrition information so I can make the best choice.
I weigh myself at least once a week.
Realizing that this journey never ends, it's one day at a time and there is no quick diet to fix it, it's a lifestyle change.

How long have you been maintaining for? One year

Do you find it harder to maintain or to lose weight? Maintain...losing didn't last *that* long in the grand scheme of things and there was a goal I was working towards. You can't break up maintaining into small goals, as we all suggest people do when losing weight. Sure, you can set fitness goals but it isn't the same. This is it...forever and ever, the goal is to sustain this weight.

What are some "secrets" to maintaining?

I don't log weekends or vacations BUT I still make good choices. Just because I don't log doesn't mean I am pigging out. I just need the breaks for my own sanity.

I also try and look at restaurant menus ahead of time whenever possible and pre-plan my meal.

I also weigh once a week. It is a good way to keep your weight in check.

I have a few MFP friends who lost weight and ended up regaining some/all and are back at it again. It is so easy to stumble back into old habits and I don't want that to be me. Yo-yo-ing isn't healthy nor do I ever want to lose a significant amount of weight again!

    How much have you lost?
    91 lbs

How long have you been maintaining for?
    Almost 2 months.

Do you find it harder to maintain or to lose weight?
So far... yes and no. Yes because when I eat healthy and pay attention to calories I lose. When I splurge a little here and there with junk, I maintain. No because I get to eat more than when i was losing which makes all those years of trying to lose worth it. When I have an unexpected splurge it doesn't hit me as hard.

What are some "secrets" to maintaining?
Haven't figured out any yet. But I am searching.:D
