Weightloss Groove

Okay, this may be a stupid question. Is it possible for the body to get in a "weightloss groove" so to speak? I have been working at this since August 1, 2012 and have steadily lost 1-2 lbs per week. However, I've noticed in the past month my losses have been higher 3-4 lbs per week. I know I've stepped up my workouts, but I've been doing that for over 3 months and before recently my losses were slow and steady. Could it have taken that long for my body to adjust and react?
