Chia Seeds anyone

After a lot of research I decided to go ahead and buy chia seeds. Got the 2 lbs bag from Amazon yesterday. I am a full time working new mom and do not get much time for work out. Once the weather gets a little warmer I plan to go for walks. But for now I plan on doing the Chia Meal Replacement Diet from Maggie Faye's The Chia Seed Weight Loss Diet Book. Also I am counting calories.

Lets see if i can lose 25+ lbs.

Please share your chia recipes.

I just put them in yogurt (2 Tbsp) or water let it gel up and drink it.

3 tablespoons in 1 cup of milk with honey or your favorite sweetener, a teaspoon of vanilla, and cocoa powder. It's nice!
I tried with cocomilk but I can't digest it.

What is in the chia seed meal replacement drink?

I like refrigerator oats - Google for lots of options. I also add them to green smoothies. Today, I had for breakfast:

    1/2 c mixed berries
1/2 c plain nonfat Greek yogurt
    1 c spinach
    1/2 oz dark chocolate
    1/2 t raw honey
    1 T chia seeds

It was pleasantly sweet with a little chocolaty flavor, a serving of dairy, fruit, and veggies, high protein, good source of antioxidants, and 270 calories. Not bad! My 4 year old asked for seconds. :)
  • Joluru : Chia seed replacement diet is when you replace two meals (breakfast and lunch or dinner) with any chia based food, like chia pudding or chia smoothie and drink a glass or chia or just dry chia seeds before dinner or whichever meal you are not replacing. I found this diet in Maggie Faye's book.

I also use chia seeds in my overnight smoothies! I use them and oatmeal as the base. I add greek yogurt, almond milk and then whatver fruit mixture I want. I use honey to sweeten them. I can't imagine eating chia seeds for two meals but I'd love more ideas of how to incorporate them in my diet

Put it in oatmeal or mash it into some berries and just eat it with a spoon. It tastes really good with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

I sprinkle on my salads, oatmeal, put in muffins or cookies, smoothies...anywhere you can think of. Sometimes you need to rehydrate them and sometimes just dry. My favorite way to eat them is greek yogurt, PB2, dry chia seeds, some sweetener and chopped apple. YUMMY!!! My understanding is that if you don't drink enough water you can get constipated cuz they absorb 9 times their size in water, which is not rehydrated in liquid before used would be from your intestines. Keep us posted on how this works. :flowerforyou:

I use chia seeds in conjunction with my diet. I add them to smoothies, oats, yogurt, on top of peanut butter and apples. I haven't used them as the main star of any diet but good luck!

I use a high power blender and blend up a tablespoon of chia seeds with water, spinach, kale, celery, and whatever else and drink them down. Not tasty but very healthy.
