I've never substituted in box cakes before. I'm going to buy dunkin hines mix and have read that you can substitute plain greek yogurt for the oil. Anyone try that and how did it taste?
Or do you prefer applesauce and do I just sub 1/3 cup oil for 1/3 cup applesauce? (or whatever the measurement is, I don't have the box memorized )

take the cake mix and just add a can of sugar free soda. I personally dig diet orange or strawberry. Mix those two ingredients only! bake like normal and you are done. Cuts the biggest majority of fat and sugar out of the cupcakes and they are delicious. You can use a low calorie coolwhip for a topping or sugar free pudding!0

So you substitute the yogurt, applesauce, or soda for BOTH eggs and oil?0

I always make my cakes with applesauce, and it tastes no different. If the box says to use 1/3 cup oil, then yes, you would use 1/3 applesauce. I still put in the eggs. I've never tried the soda or greek yogurt substitutions.0
