BMR & TDEE Question...

Okay, I have been eating between 1,300-1,500 calories per day for 4 days. After doing some reading and researching, I believe that I should be eating around 2,000 calories per day. According to MFP it says 1,970. If I'm understanding everything correctly, I shouldn't be eating below my BMR, which is 2023, but I should be eating below my TDEE, which is 2428. According to this website: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ So, to lose 1 pound per week I would need to eat 1,942. Now, this is below my BMR, is this an okay amount to eat? This is all so confusing. I just want to be able to lose this weight and stick to a healthy weight and lifestyle!

By the way, I'm 31 years old. I weigh 279lbs. I have four children and I've been going for an hour long walk each day. I've been averaging between 3.0-3.5 mph.

    Eat 2000 a day.

Since your TDEE is about 2400, that means a 400 calorie deficit.

So, burn an extra 100 calories a day doing whatever and viola. You have 500 a day deficit for 1 pound a week loss.

At your weight, you can go ahead and lose a bit more per week like 1.5 pounds. But you'll have to achieve this through exercise. With a 1 hour a day walk, you are probably burning much more than the 100 I suggested. So, your weight loss would be between 1.0 and 1.5 pounds a week.

Re-calculate your BMR and TDEE every 5 pounds.

Thanks DanaDark!! According to MFP, I'm burning about 400-500 calories with my walk. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding everything correctly. I want to do this in a healthy manner. I don't want to starve myself or to lose whatever muscle I do have.
