So, I as I posted elsewhere, I work in a two story building that has the usual stairs in addition to elevators & escalators. About 3 weeks ago, I compelled myself* to stop taking the escalator & start using the steps more. I still breathe heavy once I reach the top landing, but it feels good knowing that I can do it.

On top of that, I recently jogged up said steps a few times, just to see if I could. (Obviously I succeeded if I am writing this). It felt so good to be able to do that without feeling like I needed a medic on standby with an oxygen tank. I was short of breath, but it was soooo worth it!!

*(no vampires were used for this task, for those who are into Vampire Diaries)

  • PURE. AWESOME! I made a similar decision a few years ago that I would NEVER Take the elevator if I could take the stairs. On top of that I never take them one step at a time. Sometimes I even run up them. I still get shortness of breath every now and then but not nearly as much as I used to. And working a desk job means the more chances I take to move around, the better.

So I applaud you! Keep doing the little things, it's totally worth it.
