    Because 99.9999999 percent of MFP can give two craps less about my progress. So I just keep it on my profile.

    I use one because I like having a visual reminder of how far I have to go, as well as how far I've come so far. Numbers don't mean very much to me if they're just by themselves.

    However, not everybody is like that, or needs it in any such fashion. Or perhaps they don't even know where they'd go about getting one, since it's something you effectively have to 'turn on' in your settings.
    Either way.
