Trying to get back on track losing weight.. Eating Right and working out again.. I found some interesting articles about Capsaicin and how it helps fight weight loss.. I'm just curious if anybody uses spicy foods (Hot peppers, Cayenne pepper, etc) on a daily basis to help with weight loss? Couple years ago I didn't incorporate this, I figure if it's got healthy benefits why not..
Just wondering your thoughts on this was.. Thanks

FYI - it is commonly used in food products to give them added spice or "heat" ...0 -
I heard its good too. I use a lot of cayenne pepper but that's just because I like the flavor0

Not to help with weight loss...but I live in NM, so spicy is the name of the game. We eat our hatch red and green chiles on everything...I'm also quite fond of cayenne and habanero...as well as jalapeno, chipotle (smoke jalapeno) and a variety of hot sauces and salsa. I at these things when I got fat too and I eat them now while I'm losing weight...I don't see any correlation. Eat them if you like spicy foods, not as an aid for weight loss.0

It does increase thermogenesis but unless you like super hot food the difference will likely be negligible.

From what I read on net:
How Does Capsaicin Help You Get Rid of Body Fat?
There are three main mechanisms by which capsaicin can help you fight the battle of the bulge:
1. Increases energy expenditure
2. Deters fat cell growth
3. Reduces food intake
ALSO
As you’ve now learned by several different scientific sources, capsaicin can assist you in fighting body fat and changing your body for the better. By increasing energy expenditure, interfering with fat cell growth and helping you eat less, the active component of hot red peppers, capsaicin, can help you shed unwanted pounds and reach your body composition goals.0 -
Cayenne pepper is a great way to increase blood circulation, metabolic rate and it will also help strengthen arteries and blood vessels, prevent poor circulation in feet and toe numbness. Cayenne pepper is the most effective taken raw in salads or juiced; adjust the heat level according to your preference. I eat cayenne and jalapeno's daily, sometimes I throw some habanero's in there; and of course when I eat out it's almost ALWAYS spicy0

^-->100% agree.. I've been doing this last few weeks in my foods and adding some hot peppers but eating at home more than out... I feel like this is helping me in my food intake (could be mind game) but however I feel less eating and making me exercise a bit better.. Probably all in the head but if it's got healthy benetfits why not..0 -
If you're going to supplement with cayenne pills (which some people do if they don't like to eat spicy things), watch your dose- you can get a capsaicin "high" that can leave you quite disoriented. My boss decided to take a couple of extra pills one day, half-hour or so later, he got dizzy and passed out. I've noticed I can get quite a buzz going in the back of my head when I'm noshing on jalepenos or habeneros. LOVE spicy!!!0
