Hi all,
I am new here - I am female, in my 30s, and I need to lose about 27 lbs.
For the first time in my life I am overweight. I put on a massive amount of weight in about 6 months, after being very trim all my life.
I am here to go back to my original weight, but I'd like a buddy to help me keep on track. Anyone wants to jump in? I tend to get very discouraged and to think I will never lose this weight. This leads me to give up on dieting  Is there any hope for me?
I have hypERthyroidism, gluten intolerance, and I am allergic to soy. My doc put me off all grains and legumes for a few months because I was in constant pain and it seems to be working now. Bizarrely, my weight gain is associated with excess thyroid hormones.
I love cats, books, and dancing, and I am great as a fashion consultant. I enjoy experimenting with recipes, sometimes with glorious results, sometimes with epic fails.

Hi, I have had trouble with my thyroid over the years starting when I was 19. I also have a hyper active thyroid. It wasn't until I reached my 50's that it didn't act up much. My test scores were always messed up but I was not symtomatic. Then I started to gain weight, simply because I ate like my thyroid was still running 100 miles an hour. My thyroid tests normal now, so I'm overweight now too. When it would act up I would eat like a horse and lose 5 pounds a week. Sometimes people gain when their thyroid is over active..that was the case with my mother. Just make sure the doctor is aware of your situation and I would ask the doctor what the best diet is.0

Hey!
I am new here as well. My story is kinda similar to yours: in shape/slender all my life and now nearing 30 am needing to lose about 25-30 pounds. I am allergic to all things nuts--including those things processed with them! And I've been vegetarian for most my life. Thus, I understand food restrictions and inconveniences!
I'm a student (again? still?) so I'm pretty inactive right now although I just joined a super awesome gym today! I love school, cooking, the music scene around here and creating lovely things.
I, too, would like a buddy to keep my on track--and just generally motivated.0 -
Chanel, we appear to be twins. Indeed, I fear that I need to lose 30+ lbs, according to this morning's scale... It feels like no matter what I do, things keep getting worse.
I am relieved to hear so many people are experiencing the same problem, I mean, not that I am happy that others have it, but it's nice to know I am not alone.0 -
