WHEN to eat???????

I find myself eating about 60% of my caloric intake for my evening meal. I almost never eat past 7pm but I was just wondering if my evening meal should be less.

there is a lot of debate about whether or not this matters

some people come up with experiments on mice and others come up with "well my doctor said it's calories in calories out"

you decide what you want to believe in
  • I don't think it matters when you eat your meals as long as you are hitting your macros for the day. Break your meals up however is easiest for you to stick to, hit your macros and that would be the best setup for you.

Personally, I eat one meal a day at 7 or 8 o'clock then usually have a healthy snack around 10 or 11 and that's it. I don't eat breakfast or lunch as I am generally just not hungry then, and this allows me to have a really large dinner which leaves me feel fully satisfied. It also makes planning around going out much easier since I can easily find dinner anywhere that will come in under 1000 calories and as a result, I never feel like I am dieting or missing out.

I've tried forcing myself to eat smaller more frequent meals, but it just makes me hungrier, and no matter how many meals I have during the day unless I have a large dinner I am never satisfied and I hate going to bed hungry.

Hit your macros, lift heavy, and set it up as something you can sustain for the long term is all that really matters in my opinion.

Doesn't much matter when you eat. Probably not great to eat a large meal then go to bed but otherwise your body really doesn't care.

    Eat when you are hungry.

Some people will eat as soon as they get up... some will wait a bit.. some won't eat until 2-3pm. It really doesn't matter. It is a myth that eating breakfast starts your metabolism. It is a myth that eating at night will cause weight gain. The only reason you shouldn't eat later at night/have a cut off time would be if having food in you would cause you to not sleep well (some people experience heart burn for example if they eat late at night than try to go to bed). Some people will eat 1000 cals just before bed.

It really doesn't matter. Find what works best for you.
