C-sections and ab exerices

I just wonder if I am alone in this. I had both of my kids by c-section. The last one was almost 8 years ago so I should be well beyond healed. I have been working out pretty heavy the last two years and just recently when doing ab exercises I have been feeling this pulling feeling when working my lower abs. Ladies, has this ever happened to you? This is the last major area that I want to hit hard. I am bottom heavy and was starting to get the stomach lap over the legs before I started losing weight 3 years ago. Help.

Heck, I'm 21 years post-partum and I still get that every once in a while when I'm doing core work in yoga class. In addition, when I touch my scar it still is tender in spots. I do not understand this phenomenon and can only tell you you're not alone and ask your doctor next time you see him/her. P.S. I have two boys too - yours are gorgeous!

My scar still feels awkward. I hate for anyone to touch it, including myself. I keep pushing through as well because I am determined to get that flatter belly. Thanks ladies. I am so glad to not be alone in this.

The pulling is scarring that holds the tissues together. The best thing is to massage it to soften the tissues and loosen up the scarring.

not quite the same thing, but I have a 7 inch abdominal scare from some work on my liver. A little over a year out and it still bugs me a bit on heavy ab workout days. but I have found that if I keep up a steady ab routine it calms down. until the next time I up the work out.

The feeling is normal as long as it doesn't become a searing pain. :)

I was going to suggest this as well. 2 CSections and another major abdominal surgery have left me with some issues and I noticed a huge difference since starting to massage the scars

Mine doesn't bother me at all actually. I hit it hard on abs at least 3 days a week.

Thanks for the advice about massaging the scarring. It has started to become less of a bother. I will start doing this as well. I really want to push the ab workouts.

I have had four c-sections. I don't really notice any discomfort when I do ab workouts, other than normal. However, it's been 5 years since my last baby and I still experience some numbness in the lower portion of my tummy. So maybe that is why.

Same here.. with my current workout, I am working abs 7x a week. I had my 2nd child (1st c-section) 11 months ago :)

I really wish I could answer OP's question.. I actually have not had that issue. I enjoy touching my scar and it doesn't affect me when I work out.
