So I went over on my food amount. I am a Type 1 diabetic. I have lost 11 pounds, but with this weight loss is now low blood sugars. My blood sugar this morning was 78 - which isn't bad. But around 10:45 a.m. I was 56, then at 2:15 p.m. I was 40.
I'm adjusting my insulin, but my body can't keep up with the weight loss......
Today was frustrating, but tomorrow will be better.

My son is a type 1 diabetic, he was diagnosed 3 years ago this summer at 15 years old. I am so sorry you have to deal with all the issues of diabetes while trying to lose weight. It's a constant struggle for him as well. Praying for a cure!! Hang in there!!0

Bless your heart weight loss is a struggle but when you add diabetes to the mix it makes it a million times harder. However, its not hopeless!
First, have you spoken to you doctor and let him/her know that you seriously want to lose weight. I assume you are working with and endrocrinologist or have a very knowledgable physician? Are you still taking the long acting or is it just sliding scale now? How much more have you increased your activity level?
It may be you actually need to increase your calorie level or at least better distribute your carbs during the day. About how many grams do you eat for each meal? Or possibly change your activity times seems you hit your low after breakfast early morning? I'm sure you know this because type ones know more about diabetes than anyone but as you increase the muscle density in your body insulin uptake increases. As you lose weight I might drop the focus on calories for now until you get a good mix of insulin/carbs. Those lows numbers are very scarey. I mean still aim for that goal but if you fall within a 300-500 calorie range that will still be weight loss, and you can ensure that you are getting adequate nutrition along with exercise. Still getting that HS snack before bedtime?
Very inspiring to see your progress. Keep moving foward! You my dear because you get to fight this double edge sword and keeping your body healthy should be an inspiration to everyone on this board!
Oops see you went lowest at 2pm. Curious how much insulin you gave yourself at lunch and how many grams of carbs you had? 2pm that might be a good time to plan a snack.0 -
You gotta take care of the diabetes FIRST, then the weight loss! You may wanna slow down your weight loss...0
