What do you do when you're feeling under the weather?

I'm feeling a bit under the weather...enough to not exercise but my appitite is mostly OK.
Do you just forget about it, and take care of yourself w/out worrying about calories (too much). Or do you try to motor through, workout, and/or stick to your diet calories?
I haven't worked out since I ran the Dash on Sunday...it's twitching me out! I've been mostly OK on my calories. But yesterday I did go over by a couple hundred

I would say do a little exercise. I know it is SUPER important to get a lot of rest and liquids and take care of yourself, but at the same time, light exercise while sick can help boost the immune system. If you feel really bad....just rest.
Hope you feel better!0 -
If there is a fever, I do nothing. If no fever, I'll do something easy like take a walk. I don't worry about calories too much, but I don't eat any junk. I tend to crave weird things when I'm sick. I had a fever yesterday and am still recovering. I've been eating ak mak crackers and PB and a few strawberries. It seems to be the only thing I can stomach.0

:flowerforyou: Hi GingerKid, how did it go for you Sunday? Sorry to hear your under the weather today, hope your not catching anything. As long as you can keep your fluids down and have a fair appetite , what I would do is rest. Just eat my set calories for the day and not be so bumbed out about it. You have been pushing yourself pretty hard lately. If you feel like laying on the floor and just doing some stretching okay and if not there's always tomorrow. I am a firm believer in some good old chicken soup or broth. A hot cup of coco is only 120 cals. Hope you get to feeling better.:flowerforyou:0

I was sick for a couple of days last week, so I did the chicken soup and Premium Plus crackers for lunch and/or dinner - and a whole can of soup and about 8 crackers was around 250 calories. It was comforting and filling too! I tried to stick to my calories, and just cut the exercise out until I was feeling well.
A general rule of thumb I've always followed is: if the cold is above the neck, it's safe to exercise, if it's below the neck (lungs, stomach, etc) don't!
Good luck and feel better soon!

Thanks all! I'm feeling OK, calories are still OK, but I need to have dinner still. Maybe I"ll have the chicken soup and crackers while everyone else has something a little more hearty.
It's a head, itchy throat/cough kind of ickiness. So I don't think heavy breathing would be so great. It's a nice day here, maybe a walk after DH gets home.
As for the run, it went well...43+minutes for 3.5 miles. My DH of course, whooped my bootie at 31+ for the same length. :grumble:
A good baseline for next year though, right??:glasses:0
