My second day.

I'm 37, female, happily married with two small children, and I have 80 to 90 lbs. to lose. All of which I have gained in the last 12 years. (Marriage, two children) I'm hoping this will be a helpful tool. I'm already seeing that my portions are way too large and that I snack more than I realized. I have a not so great family health history with my Father dying of colon cancer at the age of 46, his parents both died in their late fifties of heart attacks, my mother has A-fib. I seem to have borderline high blood pressure and I am getting tested next week for diabetes (I had gestational diabetes) and for PCOS.
I have spent way too much of my adult life using food to try to drown out pain. With me, it has definitely turned in to an addiction. The last year or so I have been in a group dealing with recovery from trauma and addictions and I have been helped so much! I feel that I now have the tools to deal with my problems in a healthy way, (still learning) and I'm excited to get to work!
My motivation for major life change is my two young children. They desperately need me to be around much, much longer. I must get healthy for them!
I've never used a message board before so I hope I did it correctly. I am writing to get support and encouragement and I also want to extend that to others.
