Try squeezing a lemon into hot water and drink that with a little bit of honey. When I start feeling a cold coming on I like to make a spicy home made soup. Boil some chicken breast in a pot of water until its done and then remove the chicken and shred it once its cooled. Save the broth water and re-add the shredded chicken and throw in some veggies - like mixed veggies or carrots, whatever you like. Dice up some jalepenos or serranos and toss them in. Then season the broth with chili powder, a little salt and lime juice. Simmer and enjoy. The heat from the chili peppers will clear your sinuses out and make you feel better.. Usually works for me..

i'm in the middle of a sore throat/cold right now. i don't have any real good advice as some days i have let myself go and others i have fought to stay within my caloric limit.

just be as strong as you can, and, whatever you do, do not quit!!! The cold will be gone soon enough!

Your body burns extra fuel when battling a cold or other sickness and restricting calories too much could actually keep you from getting well as quickly. As long as you're not eating above maintainance and you're not cramming sugar (which actually lowers your immune system) go ahead and eat some extra calories. It may slow your progress for the week but will help your overall health.
  • Wow, I can so relate! I just went through this or shall I say still going through it.. On day 15 with this head cold/flu thing... Just remember to keep logging what you eat. That's the only thing that kept me from completely destroying my progress last week since I felt too bad to work out. And increase your citrus intake for some good old Vitamin C!

    Feel Better Soon!
