55 years old and just starting to weight train...

My father is trying to get in better shape. He mostly walks/jogs and I really think it would be great for him to start to start doing some kind of strength training. He is 55 years old and is about 50 lbs overweight (carries most of it in his stomach area). He has asked me for some stretching exercises, as he is feeling stiff and achey these days. I was hoping some of you might have suggestions for a work out video he could do at home that incorporates strength building exercises for people his age and fitness level. Even a list of basic exercises he could do on his own would be great--I am just now trying to learn more about lifting and its benefits.

If you look at bodyrocktv.com the website you will get loads of information there, advice and such.
Everyone is different and will offer different advice, me I like CrossFit, but that is just me.
Hope he enjoys the weights, I have just started olympic weight lifting too, love it, x0 -
have him start with basic body weight movements, push ups, dips on a bench, air squats, lunges, planks, etc. that way he gets good form down before he adds additional weight. Plus, if he is overweight, I think this will give him a good start.0
