and I had no idea the point to the ring finger polish change was to draw attention to the rings, I'll have to pay more attention

I really don't think it's for that reason. Most of my friends do it/have done it, and yet none of them have rings. And if I did it? It wouldn't be to draw attention to my ring. I think someone just correlated that incorrectly, or perhaps someone they know personally did it for that reason. I think it's a cute trend...mixing up the colors like that.

natural nails, with length but not freakishly long. I sometimes paint them not very often though, I save the paint for my toes.

I'm kind of annoyed by the recent trend of painting your left ring finger with sparkles and/or a different color, especially when it's done so people will notice your engagement ring.

I never once thought it was to draw attention to a ring. Many girls do accents on either ring finger, and typically it's because it's the strongest and fastest growing nail. It just looks "better" than the other ones.

Ah, okay. I've never seen it in person, just Pinterest, and it's usually sparkly and has an "engaged" tag. :)

We're men. We don't notice and even if we do we don't care.

I've noticed this about my husband and then realized other men seem the same so for that reason I haven't been wasting my money or time on this lately. started avoiding it while pregnant and nursing cause you know fumes and stuff and now just out of the habit and realized no one was ever lookign at my cuticles anyways. Maybe if my boobs or butt ever fell off, I might need something sparkly to interest anyone but for the time being it's nice not to have to put up with tipping anyone I really didnt' feel deserved it because I JUST KNOW she was talking about me the whole time just by her body language, even if I didn't understand a single word.

I love nails. Mine are acrylic but they are pretty dang short. Also they are a pearl tip instead of white and the rest is completely clear. They are as natural looking as possible. I can't for the life of me get them to grow out and hate nail polish so this is a happy medium for me. I also get my eyebrows waxed. Just makes life a whole lot easier and they don't look bad at all. Very very natural.

I don't wear piercings or tattoos so this is my thing. :) I really wish mine would grow out and that I wouldn't pick them off.

I buy French tip wraps and put clear UV gel over them (I use the Gelish system.) I have my own lamp at home. They look every bit as good as tips from a salon and they are actually short enough for my liking (whenever I got tips at the salon the techs would never make them short enough, no matter how much I begged.)

These are the tips I use:

I like to look at the cute nails on Pinterest but I never do mine. I keep them somewhat short because I decorate cake as a hobby and they just get in the way when doing fondant and gum paste work. I don't like leaving little fingernail divots in everything! I do paint my toenails in the summer though. Can't have naked toenails in sandals.

DH doesn't seem to notice/care if I have my nails done (although in both the line of work I'm currently in and the one I'm transitioning into it is a no-no to have painted/long nails so I just don't). I have liked the way they look when they're done in the past - I always go with a short french manicure. I tried the shellac last time I was able to have them done, they looked neat and natural. I have really long fingers and I feel like my hands look masculine generally speaking. Or like pasty spiders.

That's probably a really bizarre thing to be self conscious about, but there you have it.

I love long nails, I get mine done on a regular basis. Glitter, french manicure, hot pink tips whichever mood Im in at the time, that's just me!
  • I have long, strong natural nails, but I generally keep them at a short length, otherwise it is too difficult for me to type, and do other things (like opening cans, etc). I tend to get manicures and pedicures every month or so, and I usually stick to purples, and pinks. Lately I have been getting acrylics, to help me stop plucking my eyelashes (i have Trichotillmania.)
