Does hunger vary? Why?

Here's my dilemma...

Yesterday
- Breakfast: cheesy eggs & cantaloupe
- Lunch: Caesar salad with turkey

Today
- Breakfast: cheesy eggs & cantaloupe
- Lunch: chicken cacciatore & rice

Today I was starved by 3 PM and didn't workout, whereas yesterday I came home, worked out and had the patience to wait for a late dinner (probably 7 PM- my lunch is at 10:15 AM).

What gives? Does hunger vary by the day?

I thought I was setting myself up for a good day with the same breakfast and a higher protein lunch, but I'm about to chew my arm off right now! I think my diary is unlocked (I will change it if it's not), so I'd love some constructive input. How can I have more days like yesterday and less like today?
