MFP has allotted me a certain number of calories each day and I am following them and also exercising 5-6 days a week for about 35 minutes. On Monday I pulled a muscle in my back (not from exercise) and am taking this week off to heal. My question is since I am not exercising, should I reduce my calorie intake or still eat the number of calories MFP is giving me? I have been a little discouraged this week because I am eating my calories and this is the first week I can't exercise but after 5 days I haven't lost anything and I just measured myself for the first time last week so I doubt I will see a change in that yet. Any help would be appreciated.

I would go into goals and change my profile and see what my intake is. Thats just me and in no way any advice. :) hope you feel better

Keep eating the cals as per MFP as exercise is not taken into account until you enter it in the cardio section. Therefore you have to eat all the cals on MFP to reach your goal.
  • Thanks! I forgot about entering in the workout separate (i'm distracted by pain:frown: ) I did go in and change it up a little though. I'm not as active during the day anymore so my calorie intake did go down ... that will take some getting used to.

And, when you do go back to exercising, eat those extra calories! Technically, yes...if you're not exercising you should be eating less than when you are. But that's because you need to eat what MFP recommends PLUS the calories you burn during exercise (most of them, at least). If you look around, you will see all kinds of people here who have learned this the hard way. And there are lots of explanations on the "why". (See the posts at the top of "general diet and weight loss help" forum.) There is no reason to go hungry when losing weight.

Good luck, and I hop you heal very soon!
