Hip Osteotomy and Weight Training?

In Jan 2012 I had a Peri-acetabular osteotomy on my left hip and this Jan had the screws taken out.
I have been told the bone is healing well but I'm wondering whether it is safe for me to start weight training?
I don't want to attempt to lift as heavy as i can, I just want to get to lift heavy enough to increase my muscle mass and decrease body fat percentage. I want the body in my profile picture!
I'd be interested in your opinions, especially those who know about physical therapy or have had an osteotomy themselves.
I have read a bit online about people lifting after having hip replacements but my operation was about re-sculpting my existing bone rather than replacing anything inside it.
Would appreciate the input, thanks.
