Simple, Eat when your hungry.....
This may work for you. It's called intuitive eating. Not for me and not for many others. If I did this, I would be eating all the time. My body always thinks it's hungry. My TDEE is around 2500. I can easily eat 3200 by just eating when I'm hungry. The data on intutive eating does not indicate any advantage and a disadvantage for some. It is litterally how I ended up 20 lbs over my ideal weight.
Very true. I just eat when I'm hungry. I know some people that will make themselves eat just to reach their calorie intake. I know some people needs a lot more calories then most.
Doesn't work for me either. I have a tendency to overeat and do the whole eating when stressed or bored...so...measuring out and logging works best for me because of how I am.0 -

Also..you've been active on the forums since September and you've gotten a lot of good advice over the past months but...then you post this and I couldn't help but wonder why.
Although you haven't logged anything for awhile that I saw that your calorie goal is 1000???0 -
I noticed the lack of logging in your diary too. What gives?0

Starvation mode perhaps? This thread was daunting to read.0 -

Are you following the road map? Eating between your BMR and TDEE? Why aren't you logging? Do you really want to lose weight or just continue to talk about the prospects of it for months and months? These are questions you need to ask yourself.
Thinking and talking about doing it is not the same as actually doing it.0 -
I can tell you from experience - eating 1500 calories a day, burning 700-800 a day and still not losing - because I wasn't giving my body the proper calories it needed to survive. I'm now eating 1900-2000 a day (much happier by the way) and losing.
Also - if you could eat more than 1200-1500 calories a day and STILL LOSE WEIGHT why wouldn't you want to????0 -
Hi guys, what's going on in this thr---0 -
I don't know what a deficant is but I'm fairly sure that I don't want to be in one.
That'd be a crappy situation, for sure.
A total stinkfest.
All that hard work... down the drain.0 -
EATING A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF FOOD ON A DAILY BASIS IS A GOOD IDEA
myth or fact?
Agreed!
And it's a fact.0 -

I heard that starvation mode does exist. It makes you lose fast - you lose half the letters in your words and all the punctuation in your posts.
Seriously though OP - you've been a member here for almost six months, have started countless threads asking the same inane questions over and over because you don't believe that the "tried and true" methods of weight loss work. You've bounced around to fad diets, yet through all of this your ticker still shows "0 pounds lost". If you had simply used the MFP calculations, run a reasonable calorie deficit and maybe mixed in a bit of exercise, you'd be a lot further along your path than you are now. Nothing you're doing is apparently working, so why not give it a try?0 -

Read this study. It clearly demonstrates the body's ability to draw on its built in natural food source without "starving". Metabolism however will slow down if you eat too little over an extended period of time. Metabolism never stops completely until you die.
However several things should be noted regarding this study:
1. The 382 day fast was conducted by a very obese 27 year old man (who went from 456 to 180 pounds). Of course someone who had a very low body fat percentage to begin with would have died pretty quickly after the fat supply was exhausted and the body began to eat its own organs
2. This was a very carefully controlled fast under medical supervision. The study itself clearly states that it contained substantial risk and that it required many safeguards. Vitamins were included in the regimen and altered on several occasions
3. Just because metabolism did not cease and the body survived does not mean metabolism was not impacted (slowed). READ TABLE ONE in the study FOR THE TEST RESULTS OF CARBOHYDRATE METABOLISM at various periods during the 382 day fast.
3. Don't try this at home. It is dangerous.
The purpose of this post is to address the scientific data behind metabolism changes while consuming too few calories over an extended period (for those that have lots of extra fat available as a food source) as it relates to the "starvation mode" discussion.0 -
