I have just done my regular walking routine of about 2 miles at 4mph. The last few times I did this workout I burnt about 300ish calories...today it says I burnt 550! The only difference is that I added weights to my legs and did slight "spurts" of intense walking...Is there any other reason why I may have burnt so many extra calories?

I'm going yo say that your heart rate probably stayed much higher than it usually does because of the intense intervals and added weights. I've heard that walking with weights on your arms or legs isn't great for you, so just be careful. I do find that intervals at higher intensities of speed or incline an help to torch the calories.0
