Sweets?

Ok so I have been working out and eating under my calories every day for weeks now but I can not give up my sweets. I'm not over indulging like I was before but I feel I need to cut way down on them. Does anyone have any helpful tips/advice for someone with a massive sweet tooth?? I need all the help I can get.

I have a massive sweet tooth too! I haven't gotten "rid" of my sweet tooth but what I do is buy frozen yogurt to have or a pudding cup, something small and sweet to enjoy but it's not something I have everyday. I also found that a baked yam with a little butter and brown sugar works great for a sweet tooth and isn't all that bad for you.
  • Fruits are always my go-to for my sweet tooth. To me, raspberries, strawberries, kiwis, blueberries, they all are just like fruit to me!! There are "healthy" sweet options out there, though. I know Skinny Cow is a brand that has a whole bunch of different candies and cookies and ice cream. I'm pretty positive weight watchers does something similar.

Not everything that is sweet in necessarily bad, either. Chocolate isn't bad in moderation. Just have a handful of chocolate chips if you really want to curb that craving. Moderation and control is key!

I don't have a particularly strong urge to hunt for sweets. But if they're there, I'll shovel them in my mouth. Like I did tonight. I bought Girl Scout cookies to help a friend's kid. I put 3 cookies on a plate and took them to my chair. Then I went back and got the box. I didn't stop at 3. Because they were here, I just kept eating and eating. But if they hadn't been here, I wouldn't have even wanted them at all.

I have one too! Here is a great resource for "healthy" sweets, http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/

Seriously, she's a life saver. Her recipes are amazing. Plus, she tends to throw in how to alter the recipes for whether you want it sugar-free or vegan, or whatever. She's great.

But as for the regular 'sweetness' munchies, I like to keep things like dark chocolate chips or a really dark chocolate around. Or make a smoothie with fruit and yogurt and freeze that into those little popsicle molds (I do that for my kids and we all love it!). Lots of fruit helps too.

Switch out any refined sweeteners you're using to something a little lower glycemic as well, that will at least slow the sugar rush you get from regular sugar and help you feel more satisfied. I've been making some of the recipes from the blog above with coconut palm sugar and we all seem to really love them!

Good luck! That part is very hard!
