Okay, being new to all of this and starting to watch what I eat I have never even considered what is in the food I threw in my mouth before!
So being (very) novice can anyone help me by providing say the top 5 foods for Carbs and the top 5 for Protein please - any responses will be gratefully rec'd.
I also need to point out that I am not a FISH fan - I understand that this is good but just cannot stomach it at all!
Thank you - much appreciated guys.

Well not sure about top 5 for both but for me I like for my Protein with out fish: Chicken, lean Turkey, lean Beef and Whey Protein shakes. And as for Carbs I'd go for Oats, Granola, and Wheat bread for complex carbs and Bananas and Apples for Simple sugar carbs0

Protein: chicken breast, tuna, salmon (two fish that are not very fishy!), pork (real pork, not ham, bacon, lunchmeat, or sausage), beans (black beans, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, etc)
Carbs: anything from the produce aisle prepared with no/minimal added fat or sugar. My current favorites for roasting: sweet potatoes, rutabagas, cabbage. Fresh fruit is also your friend, but stay away from dried fruit (raisins, etc), and check the nutrition information. Apples, for example, are ridiculously high in sugar.
For sandwiches, I love Pepperidge Farm deli flats (also made by other companies with other names--Orowheat thin buns are equivalent).0 -
Oily fish (sorry but it is; consider supplementing DHA, EPA and bioavailable vitamin D in the winter)
Organ meats like liver
Plain/ traditional dairy (limit the processed stuff)
Omega-enriched or organic whole eggs
Seeds (limit the ones richest in omega-6s).
Bright and dark coloured non starchy vegetables
Lentils
Beans
Bright and dark coloured fruits
Root vegetables except white potatoes.
Many common protein and carbohydrate foods are actually fairly low in nutrients aside from the obvious macros, I can't see the point of egg whites, chicken breast or most processed wheat products unless you are bulking or love them.0
