Hi! Anyone have some really effective ab exercises I could add into my workout?

My challenge is toning my upper and lower abs to get rid of some post-pregnancy flab.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! :)

That's a pretty wide open question. Personally, I prefer hanging leg and knee raises, hollow body, planks, combat sit-ups, and my latest favorite, decline bench Russian twists with a 20 lb. medicine ball.

If those don't sound like fun, RandomAbs.com has a decent routine that changes every day, along with video instruction.

flab is generally fat and fat doesn't get burned off by additional ab exercises. you're going to have to eat in a calorie deficit and lose weight if you want to have your belly fat melt away

Well, I'm 43, and even though I've never really been overweight, per se, I've been heavier than I like to be. I notice that my abs are just not tight and firm, and I have more lower abs pudge than I like. It feels gross.

What is helping me is a combination of barre and cardio exercises like Zumba Core and Core Rhythms (you can get them for cheap used). I'm also trying to drop a little bit of weight as well because it isn't necessary for me to carry it. I can see results in my upper abs, and my lower abs are a little more pulled in. But, I need to reduce the pounds in order to get rid of the extra flabby chunk.

So, maybe a combo of cardio that focuses on the core as well as some strength training would be helpful to build muscle and increase metabolism and also tone you.

I started off with the Fluidity Bar and Fluidity Bar DVDs. Not gonna lie -- that bar was expensive. But, I already know that I love barre workouts, so it was worth it to me. If you aren't sure, just consider a barre workout dvd and a chair. Tracy Effinger has an inexpensive barre style workout for $9.99.

I use an exercise ball to work both lower and upper abs.. I have noticed a huge difference in my stomach since I started. I no longer look 8 months pregnant.

Calorie deficit for fat loss will make the most difference. However, planks are awesome - all types (regular, side, etc.)
