Strengthening back muscles

So I am a nursing student and part time Nurse Aide. Does anyone have any good exercises to strengthen my back to avoid injury. I know it is essential to use good body mechanics but definitely need to get those muscles strong too. Home or gym exercises are good. Thanks :-)

Deadlifts. ^.^0

It's often a lack of core muscles that cause lower back injury so I'd suggest 4 point plank, roll outs etc0

For lower back: Do you have access to a back extension chair? If not, you can also use a balance ball to do lower back extensions. Planks are good as well.
Upper back: Bent-over dumbbell rows.
Deadlifts, barbell rows, good mornings, etc. are all excellent workouts for the back, but make sure you have good form.0 -
Deadlifts. ^.^
^^^yup... start off easy and slow tho and have someone show you how to do them correctly whether it be conventional deadlifts or straight leg deadlifts.0 -
I'm not gonna lie, deadlifts scare me, just because I know how bad you can hurt yourself if your form is even a little bit off.0

There's more leeway than most people thing. But really, start easy and it's no problem. I do then with a bulging disc no problem.0
