Polar FT 60 - OwnCode

I'd like to ask you for some help.
I've got a Polar FT60 and it works fine, but I still have some problems with it and I couldn't find anything about it on the web.
The problem I am talking about is the following: How does the OwnCode work? Does it work in case you (you and someone else nearby) own the same HRM?
My boyfriend got an FT60 recently, and we can't use our HRMs at the same time. I guess it's normal, since we have the same HRM with the same transmitter, but shouldn't it be coded so the it eliminates cross talk from other HRMs?
We like going out for runs and all, but in that case only one of us can use the HRM, so then what's the point in having them?
Can this problem be "fixed"?

That one you should probably talk to the Polar people. They have a Facebook site among others.. I own and love a Polar FT60 but don't have that problem0

Why can't you use your HRM's at the same time exactly?
Yours is set to your transmitter, his is set to his.. There shouldn't be any issues.0 -
Even if I don't use my own HRM but my transmitter is nearby (I put it somewhere in the room where we both work out) my bf's HRM gets an error message and vice versa. If we are about to use them at the same time in the same room they don't work properly.
I thought the same...that they are coded so there shouldn't be a problem, but there is. It's like I could use his transmitter with my watch and he could use the transmitter I have with his own watch. So when we are both about to use them the watches get the signal from both of the transmitters and they end up with error message and so.
Thank you for taking your time to reply! Maybe I should call the place where I got it.0 -
Well before you assume it's the watches, what type of error message is it?
It could a host of different things:
You need to wash the strap
You need to wet the strap
You need to tighten the strap
The transmitter needs a new battery
I've worn my HRM around many people at the gym, and I've never received an error message with either my Polar FT7 or my FT60.0 -
It's the "Check Heart Rate Transmitter" message. Before working out I wet the strap, I wash it as well after working out, the tightness is fine since it works when I'm (or my bf is) the only one working out, and the battery is fine as well.
I already checked those things and the only thing I could think about is the thing I mentioned earlier.
I got my HRM 4 months ago and it works fine. Then my bf decided to get one as well for Christmas. When he first put it on and was about to do the fitness test I was sitting next to him (with my HRM and all, since I just finished workout) and the fitness test failed like 6 times about halfway. We tried everything and it didn't work. Then I took my transmitter off and put it somewhere far away and it finally worked! And while sitting next to him with only my watch on my watch got all the signals from his transmitter since the little heart sign on it "moved".
(And once I left my transmitter in the room and he was about to work out but got the same message. The strap was wet and everything seemed to be ok but it just didn't work. That's when I thought that maybe I should take my transmitter somewhere else - to another room - and when I did it, his HRM finally worked!)
I really took my time and thought about all the other possibilites but that's the only one left...I guess? Maybe I'm wrong, but that's all I can think about.0 -
So I checked both of the transmitters and they have the same number on it. Does it have to do anything with my problem?
It says: "31 coded N2965"0 -

Ok. It has nothing to do with my problem. (=w=)0
