Should I stop or should I continue...?

I started 30 day shred on Friday and I became incredibly sore. I realize that is to be expected but, I wasn't able to walk up and down the stairs, I'm still not able to sit without almost crying because my thighs are horrible. I had an emergency C section a month and a half ago, I just feel like maybe I pushed myself too far?

How did you feel when you did 30 day shred? I just don't feel like it's normal. It's hard not being able to walk when you have a new baby to take care of.
Someone give me some suggestions!

yeah doing the 30DS after an emergency c-section that recently probably wasn't a good idea. i would start out with some lighter stuff like walking and (maybe) jogging for a week or so and then start it again at the lowest level and take it slow until you're sure you're fully healed.

6 weeks post op, if you could go for a walk I would think your amazing. Give your body chance to heal, and stay with us x

A knee that I injured several years ago started screaming at me on day 3, so I stopped shredding.

I had done this 30 day shred about 2 years ago. I would not even attempt it now. I am no where near in shape enough for it. Yes, you do have to be in some sort of good shape before starting this. It is very high intensity and lots of jumping around. You can certainly injure yourself if it's new to you. Good luck. I would give it break and rest. I didn't have a C section when I had my daugher but, always waited at least 2 months after. I did have a rough labor with both my kids. Take it easy.

If it's just sore muscles in your legs and thighs that's normal. Once you get in better shape it will stop hurting to do it.
  • I'm getting mixed answers here as well...
I was walking a week after my daughter was born and doing well. At my doctor's appointment, they told me that I was perfectly fine to get back to exercising and start losing weight.
I know that it's high intensity but, I am not worried about seriously injuring myself.... I am asking if the sore thighs are normal for someone who just started level one.

Please consult a doctor before starting to exercise. As much as I know, one should not exercise or do light exercises for at least an year post delivery. All the best...

When I had a C I was allowed light exercise after 6 weeks Moderate walking was ok from the beginning. I was given a sheet of very light ab exercises and guidelines. No way could I have done shred at 6 weeks. I would follow your body's signals. I would think something like walk away the pounds dvds would be more suitable until you are fully healed.

Oh girl - I had a C - I think you need to be patient with yourself with the weight loss and maybe start by walking-much less stress on your body. You still have a lot of recovery to do-please take it easy! Yes-I think its too soon for Jillian :)

Oh - and take the baby to the mall if the weather is yucky-I had my daughter in December and did this. Plus it'll get you out of the house!

google- "delayed onset muscle soreness" and see if that's what you're experiencing. It shouldn't last much more than 72 hours if that's what's happening.

The first week of the shred I couldn't even sit on the toilet without it killing me...Sounds to me like the normal first week thigh burn..I would make sure you ask your DR. if this is ok for you to be doing...My sister had a C-section about the same time as you 7 weeks ago and she started it and is doing ok..All bodies recover different.

I've had 2 c/sec- one w/twins and no way could I handle the impact of 30ds only 6 weeks post op! In fact I own the 30ds and every time I do it for more than a couple of days I get awful shin splints, so I've set Jillian aside until I lose more weight and can handle the impact.

I'd reccommend picking up a used jogging stroller and going for power walks. That will do a great job strengthening your core and pull your tummy back together :)
