Staying on track when going through a s**t time

Firstly I apologise if I sound negative and I hate to feel negative but I'm finding it really hard to stay on track at the moment. I've been going through a tough time for about 6 months on and off and these last few days have been the worst. Ive even had to take a week off from work and I love my job! The silly thing is being healthy and staying on track makes me feel good and in control but I keep sabotaging myself by eating a load of crap at night. Common sense tells me to stay strong and in control but then I seem to loose it which makes me feel worse. Any advice on how to stay motivated in tough times will be muchly appreciated! :-)

Are you eating at night because you are hungry or because that is the way you "comfort" yourself? If it's because you're hungry, try saving up some calories so you'll be able to eat at night without going over. If it's because that's how you cope with all the other crap, then you need to learn other ways to cope. That, unfortunately, is a much more challenging battle.
  • Hello, I know it is sooo hard to stay on track during rough time, I am what people call a "stress eater". (God I HATE that term) I sound like I have no self control on any part of my life. Well, if you have a bad day then you do, dont be down on yourself think about all of your wins that you have had. Get on the phone call a friend, take a walk, take a long hot shower to get your mind off of things and relax. I hope this helps, just hang in there.

Iv'e been through some very tough times and the way to get through it is too see the light at the end of the tunnel. See yourself in a few weeks and in a few months, decide where you want to be. You are doing this for you and that is the most important thing. Exercise really helps with stress. Wishing you the best of luck and I hope things get better for you.
