How much Protein is needed each day?

I just noticed (lack of attention, yes) that MFP has me taking in 161 grams of protein per day...

WOW!

I saw a protein calculator by Kashi and it gave me a daily intake of 48 grams per day.

I looked into this....Most often calculation used to determine what a persons intake should be is to multiply weight in pounds by .37.

I weight 131 currently....

131 * .37 = 48.47

Should I change my protein daily levels on MFP? I definitely don't want too much protein. I am currently on my 2nd Round of Insanity if this will help anyone determine.

    i think it's hard to get "too much" protein. i've heard that you should calculate your intake in a lot of different ways...from 1 g/lb of body weight; 1 g/lb of LBM, .6 g/lb of LBM, etc. you'll find a lot of people also set their macros at 40 carb, 30 fat, and 30 protein, which you can do by selecting "custom" when changing your goals. it's really up to you. i eat a lot of protein but i've been trying to cut back in order to get more carbs since i'm training for a century ride. since you do high-intensity cardio you might try setting your macros to 40/30/30 and see how that treats you after a few weeks.
