Reboot your Body

Hello everyone in the fitness world! I hope you are all doing well. I am thinking about trying a program for a week to reboot my body. What are your thoughts on that and what methods have you tried and worked? Here is the website with the 7 day plan I am thinking about trying.

Before I looked at the page: Your body doesn't need a reboot. Just making better choices will see results.

After I looked at the page: Too restrictive, won't get enough nutrients. Lack of variety will make you miserable.

After I read this: "Tomorrow morning you will be 10-17 lbs. lighter than one week ago." No. Nothing short of lopping off body parts to make up for more than that initial 5 or so pounds of water weight you'll lose will equal that.

Way better off doing something reasonable, sustainable, and much tastier. (You can start by eating what foods you normally do but in smaller portions, or adding in a couple of sides of fruits and veggies if you're already eating better, or drinking more water.)

Ah, the cabbage soup diet revised for 2013!

So, no protein for the first five days, lots of fruit and cabbage... be prepared for tremendous amounts of wind, stomach cramping and water loss (and possibly even lean tissue, which is not good). Once you eat normally a lot of the 'weight' loss will go back on. There is no such thing as 'flushing your body of impurities' (unless you count the work your very clever liver does on a daily basis). The descriptions of what supposedly happens to you body on each day are also pseudo-science. There is talk of getting 'nutrients' but it ignores the fact that you are cutting out whole food groups so can't possibly be getting all the nutrients you need.

Sorry, but it's faddy, will be difficult to stick to and may make you feel unwell and depressed (especially when the initial weight loss disappears). There's no harm in using soup as a way to fill up and get vegetables into your diet but you really don't need to be this extreme to be healthy.

Even the Mayo Clinic has warned about this: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cabbage-soup-diet/AN02134
