what do you eat before/after your workout?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering when you did your workout am/pm? Also what do you eat before and after your workout. I workout mid-day or earlier usually. I never have eaten before, but lately since my workout is getting harder and longer I am feeling a loss of energy. I think I def need to put something in my stomach beforehand. I'm thinking of some kind of smoothie. I usually have a protein shake when I am done.
